Last Saturday and Sunday saw quite a few club members heading down to Ingliston for the Scottish Kennel Club's second championship show of the year. It turned out to be one of those rare events at Ingliston......a warm and sunny weekend. Despite the great weather, all judging took place inside the large hall because the ground was just too wet for the marquees to be erected.
On Saturday all judging was stopped by the sound of the fire alarm and a tannoy asking everyone to leave the building. This we all did in a calm fashion, after collecting dogs of course! After about a 15 minute wait out in the sunshine, we were allowed back in and were informed that the alarms were set off by someone smoking in the disabled toilets!
There were a number of good results for club members.
June's Benson was at his very first show and he certainly left his mark. He won his puppy class and then went on to Best Puppy in Breed!
Joanne's Walter and Annie both achieved lifetime qualification for Crufts by gaining their Stud Book numbers. Walter was 2nd in his Limit Dog class and Annie went one better by winning her Limit Bitch class.
Katrina's Leo was still on winning form when he won his puppy class.
Lynne's Luigi won the AV rare breeds class in the gundog group and Pomona won her class and Best of Breed. She was also short-listed for the group.
Still with the gundogs, Jennifer's Wallace was first in his Junior class and Marianne's Glenn and Sue's Jana were both in qualifying places with thirds in their classes.
Caitlin and Inka were first in the YKC terrier stakes.
Moira's Dandy also qualified for Crufts, as did Liz's Poppy, both getting thirds in their respective puppy classes. Ria and Jasper had a great time at their very first champ show and, although he didn't qualify this time, Jasper did manage to get a place.
As usual, if I've forgotten anyone, please let me know and a big well done to everyone!
