Clatt and Keith Companion shows
RBISElizabeth had yet more success this week but this time Malibu was flying high when she took Reserve Best in Show at Clatt. Well done!
Entries for Keith will be taken from 12 noon with judging starting at 1pm. There are 9 pedigree classes and 8 fun classes, including junior handling. Dogs do not need to be KC registered to take part but they must be over the age of 6 months. £1.50 for first entry and 50p for subsequent.
As far as I am aware, the show will be held in its usual place, which is up the hill from the main showground just behind some of the trade stands.

Forthcoming Companion shows
For those of you who enjoy a day out with your dogs, supporting a good cause and showing off your best six legs, you'll be pleased to know that there are a few Companion shows coming up.
It's short notice for the first I'm afraid, as it is actually being held tomorrow at Clatt Village Hall, near Huntly. Entries will be taken from 1.30pm with judging starting at 2.30pm, £2 for first entry and £1 for subsequent. Nine pedigree and nine novelty classes are scheduled and the judge will be Helen Adams. For further information phone 01464 831004.
Another will be held within Turriff Show on the Monday (4th August). The judge is Karen Forbes, entries from 11.30pm with judging starting at 12.30pm.
The following week (Sunday 10th) a show will be held within Keith Show. Daveena Thomson will be judging. Sorry, I have no further details at the moment but I'll post them as soon as I do.
Last, but not least, our own annual show in aid of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People will be held on Sunday 7th of September - more details to come.

Leeds Championship show
I don't think many club members made the long trip down to Leeds but I do have news of some wins.
This show must be Elizabeth's favourite as it has certainly proved lucky for Bronni, last year she went BOB and this year she took the RCC.
Karen's Ceilidh took Reserve Best Bitch and Daveena's Rowan won her class and also Best Puppy in Breed. Rowan and her sister Poppy seem to be taking it in turns to win!

Highland Canine Association Open Show
There were no wet whippets at Dingwall this year because the weather stayed warm and dry for Saturday's show. It was actually a little too warm, especially in the hall, but we are not complaining......Turriff and Keith shows are fast approaching and we haven't forgotten the wet and mud that affected them last year! (See previous posts).
Entries seemed a little down at the show and quite a few of our usual crowd weren't there, perhaps Leeds champ show had an effect on numbers. However, there are still plenty of wins to report. Photos follow but I didn't get all the groups as I was in a ring elsewhere for some of them.
Liz and her family of whippets had a wonderful day, Aggie and Erin won their classes and Poppy took best hound puppy and then Reserve Best Pup in Show! Bunty had to make do with a 2nd but she was obviously just letting her sister have a turn this time. Well done on getting two RBPIS in a matter of weeks!
Still with the hounds, Erica and Dougie's Charlotte was BOB and G3 and Bob's Luka continued his winning streak by taking 1st in AVNSC graduate, beating his brother and sister.
Morag's Arran was definitely on top form as he won his class, BOB and then the group (he's had many group places but this was his first time in the BIS line-up) but to top it off......he also took best pastoral veteran. Good going Arran (and lots of sprinting round rings for Morag).
Katrina's Leo carried on his run of success in the puppy classes by taking best pastoral pup. Linda and Vic's Gino won his class and Best Opposite Sex.
In gundogs Elizabeth had a clean sweep when Asher won his class and Bronni also won hers plus BOB and G3. Jennifer had two dogs in for the group, Wallace and Riley both took BOB although Riley had to work a little harder for his (!) and he also went on to take G4.
The club had another representative in the Best Veteran line-up, Linda's Nesa won her open class and also the toy veteran (the judge was very impressed with her full complement of pearly whites).
Still with toys - Jill's Chico was BOB and took the group, Les and Rita's Magic was Best NSC and G2. Sue's Pansy won her class but was beaten for BOB by Rosa, who then went G4, and Desmond took Best Opposite Sex.
It was Ria's Jasper's first show and he behaved impeccably. He took 2nd in the toy minor puppy class and then helped Ria to a 2nd in the junior handling class.
A big well done to everyone!!
I seem to have nothing to report from the terrier, working or utility groups but, if I've missed something, please let me know.

Lochaber Open Obedience show
Jenny and Colin went down and competed at Lochaber & District Canine Society's two day open obedience show, which was held in the very scenic setting of Spean Bridge community playing fields on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July.
Many competitors camp overnight and the society holds a ceilidh on the Saturday night, which is, by all accounts, a great evening. No doubt there are a few sore heads around the rings the following day (ask Jenny about last year). Jenny says that it is a very well run and enjoyable show.
It was certainly a weekend to remember for both Jenny and Colin as Brint and Beauly were placed both days. Beauly was 7th in Saturday's Pre-Beginners and 5th in Sunday's. Brint put in a great round in Saturday's Beginners and was placed 2nd, he also did very well in Sunday's Beginners and would have been 2nd again if it hadn't been for a slight mistake in his recall, he had to settle for 6th instead.
Congratulations to you both!

Fife
Nicky is the only member that I know of who travelled down to Kirkcaldy for Fife Kennel Association's open show last weekend.
Gabbi and Alfie did her proud by winning their respective classes and then Alfie took Best of Breed and 2nd in the group. Well done!

Good Citizen test night
Belated news of the Bronze, Silver and Gold test night, which was held in the hall on Tuesday 15th July. Everyone had obviously been working very hard because the pass rate was impressive - so a big well done to all those who made it!
Thanks to Alison for once again being our examiner, especially as she has to come all the way over from Peterhead. Thanks also to Jenny for taking the photos.

Wot - no dogs?
Here we are, 1,040 miles into our whistle-stop tour of Britain - The Long Way Round (abridged version).
The weather has been great so far and, in general, the joints are taking the strain......the odd numb bum is to be expected of course.
It's been fun but somewhat strange not to have dogs with us. We'll have to get them a side-car for next year.

Surprise visitor
It's been some time since Jan left us to go to Foreign Parts (well, England......but it is a long way) so it was a nice surprise to see her walk through the door on Tuesday night. She was in the area and decided to join us for the evening. Dennis took part in the top class and showed us that he hasn't forgotten how to do flashy heelwork. Hetty, the latest addition to the family, proved to be just as lively as we'd been told - she and Dennis make a great pair!
