Show match

The club invited Donside Ringcraft Club, Silver City Ringcraft Club and Banff, Moray and Nairn CC to a match last Saturday and it turned out to be a well-attended, enjoyable day. Well done to all the winners - photos appear below.

It was nice to see Les Walker in attendence as he hasn't been well for some time. It was a particularly good day for Les and Rita when he handled their Magic to Best Puppy - the first time she has been in the ring for a while. Congratulations!

The kitchen had a great spread of hot and cold foods as well as some delicious home baking. A big thank you to everyone who donated food and to those slaving over a hot cooker (and thanks to Morag for enabling it to be a hot cooker!).

There were some great raffle prizes on offer, thank you to those who donated.

Thank you to the other clubs for joining us on the day - it wouldn't have been the same without you! Thanks also go to our judge for the day, Helen Henderson.

Finally, thank you to all those club members who helped out on the day and to Jenny for being photographer.

AGM

A reminder that the AGM will be held on Tuesday 26th at 9pm in the hall. There will be no top class that night but the first two classes will go ahead as normal. All paid up members are welcome to attend.

Also, don't forget the match tomorrow! Entries from 11am, judging starts at noon.

Tayside and Lochee Limited show

Carnoustie was the setting for Tayside and Lochee Limited show on the 16th February.

I don't know of many club members who went down but there are a few results to mention.

There were two successes from the beagle camp as Nicky's Alfie took BOB and G3 and Erica and Dougie's Charlotte won the AV hound puppy class.

Joanne's Annie was back on form and took BOB and G4.

Well done everyone.

This was also a big day for John as he had his first judging appointment at the show. His hound group winner was a whippet and he was very pleased to see that it went BIS.

Thanks to Nicky and Joanne for sending in the photos.

Highland CA Limited show

Highland Canine Association held their annual member's limited show at Inverness Sports Centre in Inverness on Sunday 10th February.

The hall is split down the middle - one half being used for the show and the other by badminton players and people on trampolines. I'm not sure whether any dogs noticed the shuttlecocks appearing above the dividing screens or, even stranger, the people bobbing up and down and doing somersaults in mid air! If so, they seemed to take it all in their stride.

There were some very good results for club members, most notably Morag's Arran, who not only went BOB and G2 but was also Best Veteran in Show. Sue's Rosa was Reserve Best Puppy in Show.

Gundogs - Sue's Finlay was BOB (see photo below from Tay Valley Gundog), Mary's Graeme was Best gundog puppy.

Pastoral - Morag's Arran, as above, and Roseanne's Tia was BOB.

Hounds - Heather's Fraya was BOB and G3. Dougie and Erica's Willow was BOB and they were thrilled that a home-bred puppy (now owned by Maria Hall) went BPIS.

Toys - Sue's Pansy was BOB, G1 and Rosa Best toy puppy and RBPIS.

Well done All!

Caledonian Canine Society Open show

Caledonian held their open show in the Lowland Hall at Ingliston on Saturday 2nd February.

Snow was forecast for much of Scotland both the day before and the day of the show - not great for northern exhibitors trying to get south. My Other Half was of the opinion that nobody would be there and that the show might even be cancelled - he really doesn't understand dog folk, does he?!

The weather did have an effect though, there seemed to be quite a number of absentees and very few of our club members made the journey - too sensible obviously. I did encounter some snow there and back but it wasn't too scary and I had my sleeping bag, flask and snow shovel just in case I was stranded!

I may have missed someone but don't think there were any BOBs or group places to report. Nicky's Gabbi was best pup in breed, thanks to Joanne for the photo.
