Roseisle results

Despite the strong wind and lack of sunshine, our show at Roseisle was a resounding success. We had a great turn out, the car park was overflowing, and altogether managed to raise the fantastic amount of £801.30 for Hearing Dogs

Thanks to our judges - David, Lesley and Arlene - for doing a grand job, also to everyone who helped out on the day. The kitchen did a roaring trade thanks to some great food and willing helpers.

Well done to the winners, we hope everyone enjoyed the day and see you all next year!

Ken Knight

Sadly I have to report the untimely death of Ken Knight. He, along with his wife Elaine, regularly came to the club a few years ago and many will know of him and his Klanzmun mastiffs. His funeral will be held at Forgue church on Tuesday at 12.30pm.

Our sympathy and condolences go to Elaine and the family.

Companion show at Roseisle

Don't forget that our annual Companion show in aid of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People will be held this Sunday (9th) at Roseisle Hall, near Elgin. Entries will be taken from 11am and judging starts at noon.

There will be the usual pedigree classes as well as novelty - your chance to show off your best six legs and don't forget your dog's fancy dress. There will also be three classes of obedience to suit from the complete beginner up to more advanced.

Everyone is welcome, dogs do not need to be KC registered but they do need to be at least six months old. Refreshments will be available.

Please come along to support a good cause and have a fun day out.

If anyone would like to donate a raffle prize it would be much appreciated.

SKC - no wellies required

At last a dry show! Ingliston was, as usual, very windy but at least it was warm and the rain held off. However, rain wouldn't have been a problem for a lot of exhibitors because, due to some of the showground being churned up at the Highland show, rings 1-20 were moved into the large and impressive hall. Those still outside were in three-sided marquees, which were well protected and actually became quite warm. The outdoor clothing trade stands wouldn't have done as much business at this show but I think the ice-cream van did well.

No photos from SKC but quite a few good results. If I've missed any, please let me know.

Three who won their post grad classes were Katrina's Star, Erica and Dougie's Willow and Roseanne's St John.

Karen's Fergus took BOB (Karen had a fair idea this would be the case beforehand!)

Daveena's Inka also took BOB.

Lynne's Pomona won her junior and post grad classes and then went on to BB.

Helen's Kez did extremely well to take 2nd, beating 18 others, in a huge open class.

Sue's Pansy was 3rd in good sized limit and open classes and this means that she now has her stud book number.

Late news from Leeds

These results are a bit late, seeing as Leeds was held in July, but better late than never.

Well done to Karen and Ceilidh who took Best Bitch.

Lynne's new import, Pomona, had a great day winning her puppy class then going on to RBB and best puppy.

Big congratulations also to Elizabeth and Bronni who not only took BCC but also BOB!

Unfortunately, the weather was not kind to Keith show and those that had attended Turriff were soon experiencing deja vu. The sun did come out late afternoon but too late to stop the showground turning into a quagmire. Not so much dog showing as bog showing! However, everyone was in the same boat and all dogs ended up mud splattered as soon as they set paw in the ring.

The entry was down on previous years but the conditions obviously had an effect. Things actually went from bad to worse during the night, there was an absolute downpour and organisers were forced to cancel the second day of the agricultural show. Let's hope for better next year.

Brave (or is it foolhardy?) club members who turned out and squelched their way round the ring had some good results. Karen's Lily did the best by going RBIS, Morag's Arran had yet another Best Veteran, Joan's Bo won junior, June's Barney won the working class and Sue's Pansy won the toy class. Best in Show was won by the Irish setter for the second year running! Well done to everyone.

We are very grateful to our judge, Ann Layte, for stepping in at extremely short notice. Good job she brought her wellies.

We know Joan's Ruddi is a little overweight but her attempt to pass him off as a gundog was never going to work!

Keith Companion Dog Show

Don't forget that a Companion show will be held at the Keith Country Show this Sunday. Entries will be taken from 12 noon and judging starts at 1pm. The usual pedigree and novelty classes are scheduled, dogs do not need to be Kennel Club registered but they must be at least 6 months old.

Congratulations to Joanne and Annie who came out on top at what turned out to be yet another wet and muddy outdoor 'summer' show. Despite the awful conditions, the open show managed to go ahead, unlike the companion show scheduled for the following day. Due to the continual rain, the showground became flooded and the second day had to be cancelled altogether.

It was worth braving the elements for many club members with quite a few winning red rosettes.

In the working group Joanne's Annie added another BIS to her collection, June's Barney was BOB and Brodie also did well by being placed 2nd in a large veteran (7-9 years) class.

Linda and Ron had a doubly good day as Leila was BOB and Leo took Best Utility puppy.

Equally good in terriers, Lorna's Lucy was Best AVNSC, G2 and Lottie Best Terrier puppy, Karen's Molly won the veteran 10+ class.

Joan's Bo continued his winning streak by taking AVNSC Hound and G2. Liz's Erin was BOB as was Joanne's Flash.

In the pastoral group Katrina's Chance was BOB and G3 and her Cosmo was also BOB. Jenny's Brint retained his crown by going BOB.
