Jenny competed with Brint at the first Scottish open obedience show of the year, which was held at Arbroath on Saturday 20th March.
For those who are not familiar with obedience competitions, moving up the levels involves winning out of the lower classes. Jenny and Brint already have one win in Beginners (no mean feat as competition is fierce) and one more will mean they are permanently out of that class and working in Novice and above. They very nearly achieved that goal at Arbroath but instead had to settle for yet another 2nd place. So near and yet so far!
Well done on getting placed and fingers crossed for next time Jenny.

Obedience match
Our obedience match on March 21st went well and although there were less competitors than we usually get, those that took part completed some good rounds and enjoyed themselves. They also enjoyed the very tasty sausage rolls...and there were plenty to go round!
A big thank you to our judge Nicola for giving up her time and doing such a good job.
Well done to the winners and all those placed.
1st and 2nd in the SKC Pre-Beginners over 16yrs - Margaret with Ellie and Karen with Susie. They also qualify for the finals.

At Manchester it was yet another 2nd place in Puppy for Katie's Lara, the wins may have eluded her but she has certainly been consistant.
Sue's Kupah is another pup who has been doing well and he notched up another win in Puppy Dog at Manchester.
Well done!

Catrine CC Open Show
A very late result but one that's well worth mentioning. Way back in December, Jill was at Catrine Canine Club's open show in Irivine. Not only did Chico do very well with a Best NSC and G4 but younger brother Tiger went one better, he took Special Best Toy Puppy and then topped it off with Special Best Puppy in Show! Congratulations!
Another best at Bon Accord for Benson
Bon Accord Kennel Association held their first open show of the year at Thainstone Mart, Inverurie on January 16th. Last year the walk across the car park was made difficult due to icy conditions, this year, thanks to lashing rain, the challenge was to get into the hall without dogs and owners getting soaked to the skin!
Once again June's Benson took the top spot, his third big win in a row at Bon Accord shows. Last year he was Best Puppy at Thainstone and he also took BIS at the summer show in Seaton Park. Congratulations June and Benson!
There were a number of wins for club members, I'll try and remember them all but please let me know if I've forgotten any.
Terrier - Cathy's Sula won her class and went on to take the terrier group. Karen's Ceilidh won her class and G3, Poppy was Best NSC and G4. Caitlin's Solo won his minor pup class and puppy group 2.
Pastoral - Jenny's Sadie took BOB and then the pastoral group.
Toy - Jill's Chico was Best NSC and G2, Sue's Rosa won her class and Gypsy was Best Toy Veteran.
Gundog - Sue's Finlay and Logan both won their classes and BOB.
Hound - Liz took the whippet BOB and G3 but I'll have to find out which dog it was. Joan's Bo was BOB and also G2. Erica and Doug's Willow won her class and BOB.
Utility - Morag's Logie added another Best Import to his collection.
Ria won the JH 6-11 yr class, Glenn was 3rd. Caitlin was second in the JH 12-16 yr. There are also adult handling classes at this show and Morag took Best Lady Handler and then Best Overall Adult Handler.
Well done everybody!

Wishing all club members making the long trip down to Birmingham safe journeys and good luck!

Obedience Match
We will be holding an Obedience match on Sunday 21st March in the hall, which will be open to anyone who would like to come along.
There will be four classes in all, the first two (under 16 years and over 16 years) are part of the Scottish Kennel Club's Obedience Beginners' competition and are open to anyone who has not taken part in an Open Obedience show. The first four in each of these classes will have the opportunity to compete at the finals, which will be held at the Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, later in the year. The exercises aren't too difficult so come and have a go!
For those that have previously competed, there will be two classes. The first is restricted to dogs which haven't been entered at Open level and the second is open to all.
There will be some lovely rosettes on offer and we will be having a break for refreshments. Further details regarding judge and time will follow.
Fingers crossed we won't be hit by any more snow!
