Sorry, I'm a bit late with the news that tonight was the last training night until after the Christmas break.
Next week is the Christmas party, it's a 7.30pm start and there will be sausage rolls, crisps and mince pies half way through. There will also be a raffle and any donations will be most welcome. We'll be having party games, with prizes on offer, as well as fancy dress for the dogs, with rosettes being awarded to the most imaginative. Get your thinking caps on and see how creative you can be!
The following week (9th) will be the Good Citizen Dog test night. 7.15pm for 7.30pm start. The Bronze test will be held first so those doing Silver and Gold can arrive a bit later. Don't forget your poo bags, identity discs (with owner's name and address) and brush.
Classes will resume on January 20th.

Dundee Canine Club Limited Show
It takes more than snow to stop some of our members attending a show, quite a few braved the conditions and travelled down to Carnoustie on Saturday morning. I hope you all had your snow shovels, sleeping bags, flasks and emergency chocolate supplies with you.....just in case!
I have news of a few wins which made braving the arctic weather worthwhile.
Linda and Ron's Esmee was at her first show and put in a very polished performance (all those ringcraft sessions paid off!) to win the AV Toy Minor Puppy class. Linda has sent in a photo of Esmee taken after she'd enjoyed playing in the snow yesterday.
Bob's Luka also had a good day, he was Best of Breed and he also won the brace class with brother Blake.
Well done guys!

LKA of Scotland Open Show
Bathgate Sports Centre was the venue for the LKA of Scotland show on Sunday 16th. It is a fairly chilly place and I gather not exactly a favourite for most exhibitors. However, I have some news of wins for a couple of club members who braved the draughts.
June's Benson had another first when he won his AVNSC Working class. Erica and Dougie had a very good day as Leia was placed 2nd in the AV Hound Puppy Bitch class and Willow won her breed class then took Best of Breed. Well done!

North of Scotland Toydog Society
Arbroath Community Hall was the setting for the North of Scotland Toydog Society's group open show on Saturday and a few club members attended.
The Papillon entry was very high (49 dogs in 8 classes) and would have made the judge's journey over from Ireland well worth the effort. Linda's TJ did very well when he won his class and then Reserve Best Dog. Moira's Penny, at her very first show, behaved like an old pro and won her class, much to Moira's shock......and delight. A fellow exhibitor, in her capacity as a champ show judge, advised Moira not to look shocked when placed first but to look like it was a foregone conclusion that she would win! We'll be watching next time Moira.
Ria's Jasper had a creditable 2nd in his breed class and then Ria was well and truly put through her paces in a junior handling class. The judge also gave her an impromptu training session which proved to be quite helpful.
Jill's Chico won his breed class but I'm not sure whether he took Best of Breed. News of this and any other wins would be appreciated. I also hope to add a few more photos once I receive them.

SKC Beginners Obedience Competition
The Scottish Kennel Club has invited Spey Valley to hold a heat of their Beginners Obedience Competition.
There will be two classes, one for juniors (under 16), one for adults and entry is restricted to dogs, handlers and owners resident in Scotland who have never before participated in an Open or Championship Obedience Show.
The first four winners in each class will qualify for the final, which is to be held at the SKC Championship show in August 2009 at Ingliston. There are also rosettes on offer for the first four.
More information will follow on the exercises in each class. If you are interested in taking part you can email me or else give your name to the secretary or a member of the committee.
