There is plenty going on this weekend so nobody should be sitting at home bored!
Apart from Belfast champ show, there are two open shows, Perth CC at Dabbs Centre, Ladybank, on Saturday and Angus & Kincardineshire CA at Arbroath on Sunday. The Scottish Beagle Club is also holding a breed open show on Saturday at Rigside.
For those of you who haven't entered any of these shows and might be at a loose end, don't worry, there are two companion shows being held on Saturday too!
Strathspey Canine Club will be holding theirs at Nethybridge Public Hall. There will be five pedigree classes, seven novelty and these will be judged by (our own) Mr John Anderson. There will also be three obedience classes, judged by Mr Jim Reekie. Entries will be taken from 12 noon, judging at 1pm. Entries for the pedigree and obedience classes will be taken up until 1pm and for the novelty up until 2pm. This show is worth going to for the home baking alone!
The other companion show will be held at Aden Country Park, Mintlaw and is in aid of Mrs Murray's Rehoming Centre. Judging will take place in three rings starting at 12 noon with entries taken from 11am. Miss Mary McCance will be judging the nine pedigree classes, Mr Jack Carle the eight novelty and Miss Tracey Little the three obedience classes.
Both shows are held under Kennel Club rules and regulations. No dog under six months old can be entered.

Match with Banff, Moray & Nairn CC
On Saturday, 18th October we will be having a show match with BMNCC at St Thomas's Hall. Our judge will be Niamh Wilson (Speymalt). Entries will be taken from 11am with judging starting at noon.
Everyone is welcome so come along and support the club. There will be the usual refreshments and raffle - any donations would be most welcome.

Darlington Championship show
This summer at least, the north of Scotland has had the best of the weather, thankfully missing out on those deluges which affected the south. Darlington was not so lucky and the showground, which was boggy even before the show started, soon turned into a swamp. Wellies definitely required!
The award for the bravest club members must go to Katrina and Linda who were camping......in a tent! We can only imagine what packing up must have been like in the middle of a bog, will they ever get rid of the mud?! June and Andy were also camping but they had the luxury of their super new motorhome.
It was well worth splodging through the mud though when Benson kept up his winning form by being placed 1st in his minor puppy class. Katrina's Leo also maintained his run of success by winning his puppy class and then going best puppy dog. There was to be even more celebrating for the Glenfound collies when Chance took 2nd in a huge limit dog class - 23 present!
In the gundogs, Elizabeth's Asher had a good day when he won his post graduate class. I'm not sure whether Sue's Logan had already qualified for Crufts but he certainly has now as he was 3rd in junior dog.
Linda and Ron's Leila seems to be back on track and over her 'panic attacks', she sailed through her class and took 2nd in post graduate bitch.
Daveena's Rowan was one up on her sister this time, she won her puppy class. Caitlin was busy with Young Kennel Club classes, she was placed 3rd in the junior handling with Ceilidh and 1st with Inka in the terrier stakes.
Well done everybody!

Colin and Beauly's weekend away
You may have noticed that Colin and Beauly were missing from the obedience line-ups at the companion show last Sunday, this was because they headed south for a weekend of back to back open obedience shows.
On Saturday at Kilmarnock DTC's show Beauly was 8th in Pre-Beginners and Sunday saw them competing at East Kilbride DTC's show where he did even better and was placed 4th. Stays can always be tricky and Beauly was tested in a different way when an Irish setter came over and showed a bit too much interest in him! Not something you've really trained for Colin!
We know how tough it is to get placed at open shows so well done on your successful weekend!

Roseisle
Our show on Sunday, although not blessed with sunshine, was lucky enough to avoid the rain that affected many other areas and the day went very well. Everyone seemed to have a good time and were very generous, the kitchen and raffle did extremely well and we will have raised a good amount for Hearing Dogs.....I'll post the amount once all the counting is done.
Thanks to our judges - Elaine for the pedigree classes (it was great to see you after such a long time!), Roseanne for the novelty and Gladys for the obedience. You all did a great job and we hope you enjoyed it.
Thanks also to all who donated raffle prizes, rolls and baking, to the workers in the kitchen, who did well to keep everyone fed and watered, to the committee for organising everything and especially to everybody who came and supported the show.
The lovely rosettes were made by our own Nicky and she kindly donated the top winner's ones, as shown below. We all thought they were beautiful and slightly unusual too.
Alarm bells were starting to ring when there was no sign of the pies and judging time was drawing nearer......can't do without the popular pies! However, there were big cheers when Bob appeared with them in the nick of time.
Club members did very well and all of Nicky's big rosettes went to Spey Valley. Big congratulations to June and Benson, not only did he win Best Puppy in Show but he was declared Best in Show too!! What a start he has had to his showing career - long may it continue.
Joan's Bo also did very well, he won the hound class and then Reserve Best in Show. Heather's Kayla was Best Veteran. Roseisle seems to be a lucky show for both Joan and Heather.
Well done to the other class winners - Linda's Mollie was best toy, Jennifer's Riley best gundog and Caitlin won the junior handling class.
Gladys was kept busy in the obedience ring, which was still going strong when all had finished in the other two rings. No Spey Valley members managed a win but Jenny and Brint gave Alison and Cody a good run for their money!

Companion show at Roseisle
Don't forget to come along to Roseisle on Sunday for our annual companion show in aid of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. It promises to be a fun day out in a lovely setting with plenty of rosettes on offer, a raffle, refreshments and all in a very good cause too!
Entries will be taken from 11am with judging starting in all three rings at noon. There are nine pedigree classes, eleven novelty and three obedience - something for everyone!
